Full-Day Program – Llanganuco Lagoon
This classic full-day excursion offers a profound journey through the heart of the Huascarán National Park, blending spectacular alpine landscapes with the moving history of the Callejón de Huaylas. The adventure begins with a scenic drive to the turquoise Llanganuco Lagoon, nestled between the towering Huascarán and Huandoy peaks, where visitors can enjoy shoreline trails and local legends. The experience is complemented by a traditional Andean lunch and a cultural visit to the Yungay Campo Santo memorial and the Shilla craft center, providing a comprehensive look at the resilient spirit, artisanal heritage, and natural majesty of the Ancash region.
Tour Schedule
7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Pickup in Huaraz
- Meet at hotel or meeting point.
- Brief welcome briefing and recommendations from the guide (weather, altitude, hydration, appropriate clothing).
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Transfer Huaraz – Carhuaz – Yungay
Stop in Carhuaz to taste artisanal ice cream and typical breads
09:00 – 11:00 a.m. Ascent towards the Llanganuco Gorge

- Information about Huascarán National Park, a biosphere reserve and natural world heritage site, geological formations, archaeological and glaciological sites, and scenic beauty.
- Interpretation of the high Andean ecosystem: flora (quenuals, ichu, orchids) and fauna (Andean duck, vizcachas, giant hummingbird).
- Panoramic observation of the Huascarán and Huandoy snow-capped mountains.
11:20 – 12:30 p.m. | Arrival and visit to Llanganuco Lagoon.
- Light walk along the shoreline trails (approximately 30 minutes).
- Optional boat or kayak ride on the lagoon (not included).
