Full Day Program – Laguna 69

The trek to Laguna 69 is a bucket-list challenge that rewards hikers with some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in the Peruvian Andes. Starting from the Cebollapampa trailhead, the journey follows a 7-kilometer gradual ascent through high-mountain meadows, past cascading glacial rivers and the dramatic walls of peaks like Pisco and Huascarán. The ultimate prize is the breathtaking sight of the turquoise lake itself, nestled at 4,600 meters directly beneath the towering ice cliffs of Chacraraju, offering a profound sense of achievement and a perfect setting for world-class photography before the descent back to Huaraz.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Tour Schedule

04:30 a.m. – Hotel Pick-up in Huaraz
  1. We start very early to make the most of the day.
  2. We recommend wearing warm clothing, as morning temperatures can drop below 5°C.
  1. We begin our journey in tourist transportation.
  2. Technical Stop in Yungay (~07:00 a.m.): Time for breakfast (not included) and last-minute purchases (water, snacks, coca leaves).
  1. Brief stop for panoramic photos at one of the most famous lakes in the area.
  2. Guide’s explanation about Huascarán National Park, its flora, and fauna.
  1. Gradual 7 km ascent (one way), featuring high-mountain landscapes, glacial rivers, waterfalls, and views of peaks such as Chacraraju, Pisco, and Huascarán.
  2. Strategic breaks will be taken to rest, hydrate, and take photographs.
  1. Free time (approx. 1 hour) to enjoy the stunning landscape, rest, and take photos.
  2. Box lunch (can be included or brought on your own).
  1. Descent via the same path.
  2. It is recommended to go slowly and take care of your knees.
  1. Brief stop on the route to use restrooms or buy snacks.
  1. Pickup from hotel and transfer by private transport to Quebrada Ulta (Carhuaz – Punta Olímpica).
